As we mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and China on January 27th, 2024, it's a fitting moment to delve into the historical evolution of economic exchanges between these two nations and to investigate what lies ahead for businesses involved in this trade route.

Beyond these statistics, these flows also feature in the background of the establishment of numerous international ventures. France’s enduring presence in China spans sectors such as agrifood, industry, transport, urban development, major retail, and financial services. More than 1,100 French companies operate in China, employing approximately 570,000 people. Conversely, there are over 700 subsidiaries of Chinese and Hong Kong companies in France.


The 2023 China Import Export Expo (CIIE) also exemplifies the continued interest of French Businesses in trading with China. Despite pandemic-induced slowdowns in previous years, over 2,000 French companies participated in last year’s edition of the CIIE, underscoring the enduring economic ties and enthusiasm.
